Is there another type of cap for my Echo?

I received an Echo as a gift recently and really do like how it works, but I'd like it to be more like a pen I can keep in my shirt pocket along with the 3x5" flip pad notebook.  I've tried the leather case and it just feels to bulky. I've seen on the old forums how some people have used flashlight clips to make their pen pocket clippable, but is there another cap that can somehow stay attached to my pen or at least clip onto the top of the pen so I won't lose it?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,

The only pen caps we have are available in our online store.  Unfortunately, we do not have a cap that fits your description.

Thank you,

Jeff

A colleague of mine didn't like the provided pen caps because they did not allow him to clip the pen to his notebook.  His solution was ingenious. He found a metal pen clip from another ball point pen and removed it from the pen He now had only the metal clip.  He heated the metal clip using the flame of a lighter. The metal clip became so hot that when he touched it to the plastic of the LiveScribe pen cap the clip melted the plastic and became embedded into the cap.

The metal clip is still embedded into the plastic pen cap one month later.

I suspect that if enough of us indicate we would like such an accessory, Livescribe would be willing to invest in designing one and making it available.  I would suggest adding your "Like" vote to Chris' question above.

I suggest the accessory be a wrap-around pen-cap (with a rugged pocket-clip on it), not a plastic-plug like we have right now.

That way I could put the cap on quickly (and without looking it!), since I wouldn't have to orient the plug exactly the right way to get it into the pen.

The plastic-plug which is supplied instead of a pen-cap is hard to get out, hard to get in, and easy to lose (had my pen 2 weeks, already lost one).

Due to the pen shape, a wrap-around pen-cap couldn't be stored on the eraser-end like a normal pen, but due to it's size, it wouldn't get lost as easily.

I did a little bit of work and made mine into something useful. In about fifteen minutes, you can do the same thing. Using a 5/32" drill bit, I drilled a hole through the cap (avoiding where the tip in inserted. Using a binder clip, I can now secure it to a notebook. When the pen is pulled off, the cap is left secured to the notebook. It's also easy to change notebooks. Check a few pictures: http://i.imgur.com/cnBiK.jpg

Great idea - one of teh major drawbacks of the echo's design is the fact that not only are the caps fiddly to get off, but mine is forever pinging off under the sofa or something! Might need to do a bit of DIY and follow Scott's lead! Nice one. :-)

I would prefer the cap to be a screw top instead. I find the edges of the current cap design a little bit sharp.

It would also be great if there is a metal clip to the pen itselt ditto to what others have said.

@Scott, I must try that idea I think it will work rather nicely for me too ;-)
