Hi,
I purchased the Echo 2gb just before Christmas in preperation for the second semester of college, and for the first couple of days everything worked fine. Even the battery lasted a full 9-hour day at school (obvioulsy not turned on or recording the entire time). Today I came home and plugged it in, and the majority of my notes taken today all looked like illegible chicken scratch, recording ink strokes where there were none. My penmanship is not terrific, but certainly not as bad as it appears on screen!
At first I thought it might have been becuase I was writing fast, trying to keep up with the lecturer, and maybe not lifting the pen high enough off the paper so it knew I wasn't actually writing, but that just doesn't seem right. The ink notes look fine.
Is there something I am missing here? I can connect someone to my Evernote pencast of a lecture today if that would help.
Thanks!
Patrick

Hi Jeff,
I had actually found a fairly comprehensive thread in the archived forum about this very issue, and that took me to that article. I did the fixes and tests suggested, and 4 pages of class notes from this morning worked absolutely perfectly. I was a bit more careful about the pressure I used as well.
Thank you!
Patrick
Hey Patrick,
What thread in the archived forum did you find about this issue?
I have a Pulse pen and it was working fine but suddenly my handwriting looks like I never pick up the pen tip or like I'm writing during an earthquake.
I checked the FSR but it appears to be working fine.
Hi,
I think there is something wrong with your FSR. This symptom has always been linked to the FSR. If your pen is within warranty you can contact cs@livescribe.com and they should be able to assist you with this issue.
Thank you,
Jeff
Thanks, I've submitted a request.
The dark red LED used to illuminate the paper can be easily "seen" when imaged using a mobile phone or any other camera as these are much more sensitive in infrared. But careful, only tap next to the lens or better still press against an object, don't smudge your lens with ink by tapping directly on it.
Sadly, I just got my 8GB Echo pen in the mail today and already had issues. I was recopying my notes in to a Dot notebook, and the last pages came out with extra lines everywhere :(. All of my pages had missing bits. I had to go back and trace over a lot of it. I figured I must not have pressed hard enough, but I really don't think so at this point. I was also having issues with the ink (it was almost dried out and wouldn't write), so I swapped to the spare ink cartridge that came with the pen. I didn't drag the pen on the "chicken scratch" pages; there are no indentations on the paper, except for the text. I did the "red light" test from the suggested article too.... What do we do if its not the "red light"??
Please contact cs@livescribe.com for these issues. It is most likely an issue with the FSR. If the pen is within warranty they can replace it for you.
Thank you,
Jeff
